If you closed on a home in 2018 (that is your principal residence),

IT IS TIME TO FILE YOUR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION!

What is a homestead exemption?

A homestead exemption helps you save on taxes on your home. An exemption removes part of the value of your property from taxation and lowers your taxes. You may qualify for multiple exemptions. Please check your county’s website for more information.

A Homestead exemption only has to be filed once (not once per year), and can usually be done online completely free of charge. There are several services that will offer to charge you for this, but don’t fall for it. Deadline to get this filed is April 2019.
